TEXT: Sparkling rushing performances from
Mike Wilson and Allan Poutier carried the Grafton Clippers to a 37-7
non-district football victory Friday night over the Northampton
Yellow Jackets in Eastville.
Grafton (5-1, 3-1 Bay Rivers) finished with 332 total yards on 47
carries. Wilson rushed 25 times for 179 yards and two touchdowns,
while Poutier gained 105 on 13 carries.
Grafton led 14-0 at the half and led 17-0 before Northampton
finally got on the board. Grafton scored three more touchdowns to
close the game.

Marcus Parrott ran for 103 yards and two TDs - a 4-yarder in the
second period to give the host Panthers a 6-0 halftime lead, and a
46-yarder in the third quarter. The first TD, with less than a
minute left in the second quarter, came after Poquoson roughed the
passer on fourth down.
Poquoson kept Bruton star quarterback Bryan Randall contained
most of the night, though his 1-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter
sealed the victory. He also completed five passes to Onrea Jones,
who amassed 94 yards in receiving.
The Islanders didn't get their initial first down of the second
half until there were less than three minutes remaining, and it came
against Bruton's second-team defense. Poquoson back Mark Kurek left
the game in the second quarter but played hurt for much of the
second half.

Jamie Wisenbaker scored 23 points and posted 12 rebounds as
Portsmouth Christian (11-3, 8-0) beat Denbigh Baptist 60-32 in a
game pitting two of the Metro Conference's best squads. Leslie Maxey
scored 11 points with eight rebounds and five blocks for the
Shooting Stars (11-4, 6-3). ... Sara Ruggles scored 38 points,
hitting six 3-pointers, as Hampton Christian (12-5, 5-2
Metro)defeated Oak Tree 63-23.
Boys soccer
Denbigh Baptist (7-3-2, 6-0-1)moved into first place in the Metro
Conference with a 3-1 victory over previous leader Portsmouth
Christian.
Field hockey
HRA's Anne Cabot Ishon scored to give the Navigators (6-1-3) a
1-0 win over Christchurch.
