TEXT: Poquoson notched its second Bay Rivers District win by upsetting Southampton 12-7 on Friday.

Mark Kurek scored on a 2-yard touchdown run on the game's opening drive to give Poquoson a 6-0 lead. The Islanders (2-6, 2-5 district) extended their lead to 12-0 when quarterback John Farmer found John Eversole for a 24-yard touchdown strike in the second quarter on a fourth-and-5 play.

Southampton (6-2, 5-2) got a touchdown back on Christian Sweat's 35-yard run. But the Indians got no closer.

"We had put it together in various pieces in other games, but this was the first time we put it all together for a whole game," Poquoson coach Don Ward said.
